All these people above have been selected by their peers from the membership
of the PEZHeads E-Mail discussion group. They were voted in because of their
love of PEZ, their devotion to the hobby, and the time and love they give back to
our wonderful obsession.
~ A short history (as is known so far) ~
PEZHead of the Month was started by PEZHeads email list member Ted Tang
in December 1996.
His basic idea was to honor a particular PEZHead each month, by voting, as
sort of a special thing for us all to celebrate. It was a great idea, and PHOTM grows in
popularity
and participation each month. Here is an excerpt from Ted's original e-mail, bringing up
the
idea for PHOTM:
"Whoa, in one of my dreams, I had a thought of a PEZhead of the
month! It's just an idea. And plus, you could walk in to Burger King and
say, "Hey, I was the December 1996 PEZhead of the month!", but I doubt
anyone would really care... But hey. It's still a title. I guess I would keep a
record..."
In July 1997, Ted left school, as well as the list and thus PHOTM
needed a new "keeper". Bobby Petty stepped up as the new "vote
tabulator". For some time, PHOTM
was a loosely based show of support for everyone's favorite PEZHead.
After Bobby stepped down,
the task went to Bob Tipton(Jan.'98). Bob brought guidence and "rules" to PHOTM.
Bob also
brought with him a wonderful idea...The PHOTM Clock Award. Starting in 1998, every PHOTM
received a wonderful clock, with an image of Peter PEZ, their name and title on it. This
tradition
stands today.
Eric Thorell(April '98, February 2000) continued where Bob left
off. At present, Eric is the compiler
of nominees and votes. Eric also constructs the PHOTM clocks for the winners.
