PHOTM Nominations
August 2003

Dave Schmidt

i would like to nominate dave schmidt (harddrver) for the photm award. he repaired well over 100 dispensers for those attending the pezamania convention. he didn't charge anybody for the repairs, except for the parts used. i understand that some of the repairs were quite tedious and he got them all done. everyone that i talked to about his repairs were quite pleased. he does this repair work frequently and never charges for his expertise, just the parts. thanks for allowing me to make this nomination. thanks for reading.

Kathleen Eovino

I would like to nominate Kathleen Eovino from NJ. I had never met kathleen before pezamania but want to share my story with you. Some of you may remember my post about receiving a pez vending machine from my husband. He bought it without the insert (the cardboard paper that says 25 cents quarters only). Well I posted to the list about whether to restore the machine or to keep as original. Kathleen was quick to respond to keep it as original. She tolerated all of my questions. I then emailed her (since she had told me she had a similar machine) if she could scan or give me dimensions of the insert. She then told me she had an extra that had come with her machine. I met up with her in cleveland and I must say this is a true pezhead. She wouldn't accept any money, nothing for the insert. This generous act only proves to me her love of pez and her devotion to the hobby. The first thing I unpacked was that insert. It looks great in the machine and I can only hope I can make someone else's day the way Kathleen made mine. Thanks again Kathleen!

Red Conway

Hi all, for all of you who read my thoughts on Pezamania, I mentioned Red Conway and would like to nominate him for Pezhead of the month. Although I have not known Red for a really long time he has left quite an impression. As I said in my earlier post, I met Red in person for the first time at the super flea in Cheektowaga, NY. From the moment I met him he has redefined what the word Pezhead means to me. Red is one of the most friendly and down to earth people I have ever meet he is an asset to this Pezhead group, and the hobby of collecting Pez. While at my first Pezamania, the first room I went to was Red's where he made my wife and I feel very welcomed. While visiting Red through out the convention, no matter who or how many people were in his room Red took the time out to talk to everyone, no matter how long it took. Knowing I have a 2 year old son and future pezhead that did not make it to the convention with my wife and I, Red gave him his first carded pez (a Bouncer Beagle) for no other reason then just being himself. Being new to Pezamania, Red made it a point to introduce me and my wife to several other Pezheads. Some from Western New York, and others from all over the country. I have gained a wealth of knowledge on Pez and collecting Pez from Red and have made not one Great friend, but many thanks to Red. Red always made it a point to say hello and ask how you are doing to everyone at the convention, and had a smile on his face the entire time. Red Conway exemplifies what a Pezhead is and should be. I am thankful to have met him through this list and have nothing but the utmost respect for him as a person and as a Pezhead. That is just a small portion of why I feel Red Conway should be voted Pezhead of the Month. For those of you that have met or know Red personaly you know what I am talking about when I say "Red is a true Pezhead."

Wayne

I'd like to nominate the gentleman that kept us posted with all the wonderful online images of the convention. Not just one day's worth but up until close. There were tons of comments regarding the convention but to 'cliche' my nomination a bit...a picture's worth a thousand words. I nominate the PEZhead I only know as "WAYNE". And 'Wayne', I wish to personally thank you for your time. You've given folks that cannot afford travel a wonderful inside look at a PEZ convention. Good stuff.

Cincinnati Area Pezheads

I would like to nominate a group instead of an individual. I apologize if this violates the official rules, but I would like to express my appreciation to the Cincinnati Area Pezheads group for their time and effort in making the wonderful Ohio buckeye pez dispensers for the list party. I was not in time to get one, but Kyle did, and he treasures it. The work involved had to have been phenomenal and it is that kind of generosity to the list and its members that PHOTM is supposed to reflect. I wish to nominate the Cincinnati Area Pezheads for PHOTM!
