July 2002 Nominees

Tammie Shepler

I would like to nominate Tammie Shepler. I hope this isn't to late, I was waiting from someone that benefited for what she did Friday night, but since they didn't I thought I would..... just hope it's still open since it hasn't been closed offically yet. I have no idea how many kids she took to the game. Many many moons ago.... right after the Kixx game.... there was a lot of discussion on the prices on the sport PEZs when Tammie offered to send list members a Clippers PEZ in exchange for a price of a very cheap seat and the postage, well under $10 for one. She could have bought the tickets and then resold them. I'm hoping the people that got a Clippers PEZ maybe didn't nominate her because she has been nominated a couple times before and didn't win, personally I find it difficult myself to vote for someone when an event hasn't taken place yet. I have no idea how many she took...30-40, was planning on feeding them before hand, had to line up transportation to get them to the game and back. I'm not sure how you would describe the kids for sure, under privilage or unfortunate but I'm sure if they knew what a PHOTM was and were members of the list I'm sure each one would take the time to vote. I'm sure it was really nice not only to see a game they would have never seen otherwise, but to know someone cared. If I could nominate a second time, it would be for whomever sent the PEZ to replace the Clippers PEZ for them and the ones that sent money for refreshments. I know some people argue a PHOTM should be active in this group as far as posts go and she doesn't post a whole lot, but can anyone think of anyone that did so much with so little....

John Devlin

I would like to nominate John Devlin (and his wife and the rest of the St. Louis convention staff) for the July PHOTM. As I'm sure most of us know, John puts on the St. Louis convention. This year's convention was "eventful" to say the least. Due to circumstances beyond his control, John was forced to find a new home for the convention at the last minute. Through his (and his entire staff's) tireless work, the convention went on. Throughout the whole experience, John kept apologizing and tirelessly working to make sure everyone was taken care of. There were many times that the outcome was in doubt, but thanks to John's hard work, everything turned out OK. So, as a small token of my appreciation, I would like to nominate John Devlin as the July PHOTM!
